Hot Chocolate and Marshmallow Syrup

I will let the title of this blog post speak for itself, kind of.  Hot chocolate and marshmallow syrup, a sinfully delicious flavour combination. You may wonder how I came across this discovery, so I will share a short story.

I don’t enjoy the taste of plain coffee, but once in a while, I don’t mind a flavoured coffee (such as Starbucks caramel machiatos), as a little treat.  I am a fan of tea and hot chocolate and look for unique beverages to change things up.  Just before Christmas, I was introduced to a new coffee store near where I live.  Maybe you have heard of ECS Coffee (ECS) before, but I hadn’t.

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the store for my first visit, as there were many beverage options that I would be interested to try.  I knew what was available from our grocery store for our Tassimo machine, but ECS offered many more varieties.  I liked the concept that you don’t have to buy a whole box of one type, you can buy individual discs, which allow you to try different things and learn what you like (or don’t like).

If that isn’t enough, ECS also offers a wide assortment of flavour syrups, to add to your beverages.  I browsed the entire front display case for something I thought I would like. From hazelnut to cookie dough, bacon to raspberry flavoured syrups, I was confused about what to purchase.

A friendly sales associate offered assistance and asked if I would like to try a sample of anything.  “Yes please” was my response.  I selected a creamy hot chocolate and then was asked if I would like a flavour syrup added from one of their daily features.  They recommended marshmallow and I agreed. There you have it, I found my new favorite drink…at least for the winter months.

I look forward to future visits to the coffee shop to find new and exciting flavour combinations.
