My ‘Sunday 7’ – June 24, 2018

Happy Sunday and welcome summer! Summer is the season I look forward to the most. I was inspired to write this edition of my ‘Sunday 7’ while lounging outside in my backyard with a beverage in hand, the sun shining down and browsing social media sites. Here is what caught my eye this week:

1) I enjoyed an iced coffee and a decadent chocolate brownie with a friend on the patio of Eric the Baker, which is located downtown Guelph. I highly recommend you pop into this little cafe if you live in the area.

2) I attended my first Toastmasters meeting in Milton this week and enjoyed the experience. It was great to learn what this group is all about. I look forward to participating at future meetings to brush up on my public speaking technique, develop leadership skills and learn how to effectively run a meeting.

3) I have heard about subscription boxes that send you beauty, health and wellness products, fashion and home items. I am curious if they are worth it and which ones are the best. I am possibly considering FabFitFun or Birchbox. If you have tried a subscription box, let me know about your experience (good or bad).

4) I recently tried this Burt’s Bee’s Facial Cleansing Oil and it is easy and quick to use, while being gentle on my skin. It does a good job removing makeup and and doesn’t leave an oily residue.

5) I am onboard with food and beverage companies moving away from offering plastic straws to customers. These metal straws in rose gold are a great alternative to have at home.

6) Have you ever envisioned a pair of shoes in your head, but were unable to find them in real life? That is how I felt with this pair of Report sandals. I didn’t think they existed. When I saw them, my fingers were crossed they would fit and be comfortable. When they did, I immediately knew they were coming home with me.

7) A high-quality oil or balsamic vinegar can make all the difference in a dish you are preparing. On a recent visit to Burlington, I discovered The Olive Oil Dispensary that has a wide selection of products. I purchased the garlic infused olive oil and look forward to returning and trying more.

Welcome to my blog! Grab a coffee, tea or whatever your favourite beverage is and join me as I share a collection of stories about travel, fashion, beauty, food, as well as other topics that spark my interest. I have 14 years of public relations and communications experience, along with three years of marketing. For 12 years (2006-2018) I worked for two organizations in the agriculture/farming industry. After an unfortunate layoff in the summer of 2018, it made me think of where I wanted my career to go in the future. A year later, I decided to go out on my own and offer communications services (predominantly content creation) on a freelance basis to clients. I also enjoy photography, travelling, listening to music, cooking and baking. I am also a dog lover and have a beautiful yellow lab. Thank you for visiting and I hope you come back again soon!
